Hub members participated in the Data Science Africa summer school and workshop held at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri, Kenya from 3rd - 5th of June 2024. The summer school targeted graduate students, researchers, and professionals working with unique or very large datasets. A combination of introductory lectures, tutorials and hands-on sessions were designed to equip participants to apply cutting-edge machine learning techniques to derive inference from their own data.

Following the summer school, the DSA 2024 workshop focussed on contributions on methods to help address problems in Africa within machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotics, data mining, and natural language processing. Applications of these methods were showcased in areas such as healthcare, climate, agriculture, politics, and the arts.
